Anche questa settimana volge al termine, e devo dire che per il nostro blog gli ultimi giorni sono stati ricchi di risvolti positivi. Abbiamo raccolto consensi ed opinioni favorevoi da voi lettori, prima di tutto e da parte di tutte le pagine Facebook e Gruppi che si occupano dell'argomento che trattiamo noi e che lavorano ogni giorno per raggiungere lo stesso traguardo: maggior coesione tra le famiglie dei nostri Soldati e creazione di una rete di Supporto che sia concreta e pratica e ufficialmente riconosciuta. Questo è il nostro scopo e ci impegneremo insieme per raggiungerlo!
Voi penserete che sono impazzita, che ora attaccherò a parlare di discoteche e serate di grandi baldorie e bevute tra amici e rientri all'alba e nottate folli, perchè di solito, quando si dice Venerdì, è questo quello a cui si pensa. Fine di una settimana di fatiche, divertimento, riposo. Ok, ma cosa c'entra con questo Blog? vi starete domandando. Ve lo spiego subito! La mia nonna mi diceva sempre che la visone delle cose cambia a seconda della prospettiva da cui le guardi, quindi oggi voglio che iniziate a guardare il Venerdì da un'angolazione differente. Per la precisione mi piacerebbe che lo vediate...Rosso!
Alcuni di voi, sicuramente, avranno sentito parlare dei 'Red Shirt Fridays'. Se è la prima volta che li sentite nominare, niente panico, sono qui apposta per spiegarvi di che cosa si tratta e per coinvolgervi a partecipare a questa iniziativa di grande importanza e ricca di significato.
Innanzitutto, se masticate un pò l'inglese, vi invito a visitare questo sito: http://www.redshirtfridays.org/ , nel quale troverete tutti i dettagli e le origini dei 'Venerdì della Maglietta Rossa', letteralmente tradotto, oltre che a fantastiche storie d'oltre oceano di Militari e famiglie che amano le Forze Armate e che vivono la stessa nostra esperienza.
Come viene spiegato nel messaggio di benvenuto al sito web, la missione dei Red Shirt Fridays è quella di supportare gli uomini e le donne che prestano servizio nelle Forze Armate. Non si tratta di un'organizzazione politica o tantomeno ci si preoccupa di dare appoggio o meno alla guerra. L'unico scopo di questa iniziativa è quello di far sapere al maggior numero possibile di persone, che noi supportiamo i nostri Soldati. Siamo tanti, ma fino ad ora la maggior parte di noi è rimasta in silenzio. Una 'silenziosa maggioranza' che vuole uscire allo scoperto e far sentire d'ora in poi la propria voce, per ribadire ai nostri Militari che noi ci siamo, che siamo loro vicini e che li appoggiamo, che il loro lavoro ed il loro sacrificio non cadono nel vuoto, che non passano inosservati, ma che, dietro di loro, accanto a loro, c'è tutto un popolo fatto di persone come noi, che non li hanno dimenticati, che li amano e che hanno voglia di dimostrare la loro gratutidine ed il loro affetto, indossando qualcosa di rosso, ogni Venerdì.
Chiunque apprezzi il grande lavoro che ognuno dei nostri Ragazzi e Ragazze in Divisa fa quotidianamente, per la salvaguardia della pace e per regalarci un Mondo migliore, può certamente capire a pieno il senso di queste parole e di questa iniziativa e dunque condividerla.
Questa sera quindi, quando vi preparate per uscire, pensate a questo: da oggi diamo al nostro Venerdì di divertimento, svago, relax e spensieratezza, un valore aggiunto. Mentre sarete davanti allo specchio a truccarvi, quando aprirete l'armadio per decidere cosa indossare, mentre vi metterete lo smalto alle unghie, il rossetto, il tacco 12, dedicate un pò della vostra serata a loro. A loro che non ci sono più, a loro che ancora sono lontani, a loro che sono tornati e ci stanno accanto tenendoci di nuovo la mano.
Indossate qualcosa di rosso. Qualsiasi cosa. Un fermaglio per capelli, un cerchietto, una cintura, lo smalto, le scarpe, una sciarpa, guanti, una maglia o un abito.....fate voi. Ma fatelo. Non per me, ma per far sentire ai nostri uomini e donne in Divisa che noi ci siamo e che da oggi faremo sentire le nostre voci!
Quindi buon divertimento a tutti voi e buon Red Friday!

This week is drawing to a close and I have to say that there have been good and positive results for our blog. The feedback from you our readers has been very favourable especially both from the Facebook pages and from the groups that are involved in similar issues as we are and are working towards the same objectives: there is a greater link between the families of our Soldiers and the setting up of a concrete and practical support network which will be officially recognized. This is what we want to achieve and we will work hard to get there!
However, today I want to talk to you about Fridays
You probably think I am mad and am going to start talking about discos, fun nights out, drinks with friends and going home at dawn after crazy nights out because that is what is usually meant by Friday nights: the end of the week’s work, having fun and relaxing. So, what has this Blog got to do with Friday you will be asking? I’ll tell you! My grandmother used to say that how we see things depends on the perspective from which we view them so I would like us to take a different view of Friday from today. To be more precise I would like you to think Friday and think Red from now on!
Some of you will probably have already heard of ‘Red Shirt Fridays’ If this is the first time you have heard the expression, don’t worry, I am going to explain what it is about and involve you in this initiative which is really important and of great significance.
First of all, if you can understand some English, I suggest that you go to this website: http:/www.redshirtfridays.org/ You will find all the details and story of the origin of ‘Red Shirt Fridays’ as well as fantastic stories from the States of the Military and their families who love the Armed Forces and live out the same experiences as we do.
As the message in the Welcome to the website explains, the mission of Red Shirt Fridays is to support the men and women in the Armed Forces. It is not a political movement or a way of supporting or not supporting war. The aim of this initiative is to show as many people as we can that we support our Soldiers. There are a lot of us but until now most of us have just been silent. This silent majority is now coming out into the open to make its voice heard so that our Military know that we are there, that we stand with them, support them and their work. We want them to know that they are not making sacrifices in vain, they are not being ignored and that, beside them and behind them there are people like us who have not forgotten them, that love them and want to demonstrate how grateful they are to them by wearing something red, every Friday.
Anybody who appreciates the great work that our men and women in Uniform are doing every day to maintain peace and create a better world will almost certainly understand very well the meaning of these words and will want to be part of this initiative.
So, this evening, when you get ready to go out think: from now on our fun Friday will have an added dimension. When you are getting ready in front of the mirror, putting your make up on, choosing something to wear, putting on your nail varnish, lipstick or 4 inch heels, dedicate a little part of your evening to them. Those who are no longer with us, those who are far away, those that have come back and are there holding our hands again.
Wear something red. Anything. A hairclip, a headband, a belt, nail varnish, shoes, a scarf, gloves, a top, a dress…you decide. But do it. Not for me, but for our men and women in uniform so that they know we are there for them and that we are going to make our voices heard from now on.
So have a good time and have a good Red Friday.
Red is fashionable.
