Ciao!
sono venuta a contatto con questa patologia quando è stata diagnosticata a mio cugino circa un anno fa, poi eseguendo dei controlli ho scoperto di essere io stessa una portatrice sana.
sono una studentessa di infermieristica pediatrica al policlinico umberto I di Roma e tra i tirocini obbligatori da svolgere c'è proprio il reparto di fibrosi cistica, che è il centro di riferimento per il Lazio;
il destino ha voluto che fosse una delle mie prime destinazioni e lì ho scoperto un mondo fatto di gioie e dolori, non potete immagianare la forza di questi ragazzi che nonostante siano coscienti di avere una patologia cronica degenerante!
ln reparto ho conosciuto dei ragazzi meravigliosi con cui ho instaurato un bellissimo rapporto, anche di amicizia, e con i quali tutt'oggi mi tengo in contatto grazie al fantastico mondo di facebook!
Per loro è molto importante avere delle persone che ti sono accanto e comprendono fino in fondo la loro malattia!
anche un piccolo aiuto per loro vale molto!

Carola’s email – Her experience with Cystic Fibrosis

'Hi,

I came into contact with this illness when my cousin was diagnosed with it about a year ago. After doing some health checks, I learned that I was a healthy carrier. I am studying paediatric nursing at the Umberto I hospital in Rome and part of the training is to spend time in the cystic fibrosis department which is the main point of reference for the whole of Lazio. It was one of my first assignments and there I discovered a world of both joy and pain. You can’t imagine how great the young people are in spite of the fact that they have a chronically degenerating illness. On the ward I have met some great kids and we have become friends, keeping in contact through the fantastic world of Facebook. It is very important for them that the people around them understand their illness and they are grateful for even the least help.
